Our Irish Heritage
From time to time we get contacted by people who share our name and wonder if they are related to our family. We welcome the inquiries and are happy to explore if there is a connection. Here is a summary of our links back to Ireland which might help your quest. It was written by Mike McShea, the eldest living child of Harry and Betty McShea.
"We McSheas are desceded from Mick McShea who emigrarted from Dungloe
in County Donegal in about 1872 with his wife and six chidren. Their last child, my paternal Grandfather, was born in the next couple of months. This gave them a total of seven chidren. They worked in the coal mines of Pennsylvania in the USA.
"My grandfather and his wife also had seven children, including my father Henry McShea, who was the youngest. The other six (by age) were John, Roger, Catherine, Florence, Edmund and Joseph. Joseph McShea became a Roman Catholic Bishop in Philadelphia, Pennslyvania before creating a new Diocese in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
"My father also had seven children. I am the oldest surviving child and will be 70 years of age in July."
